I am always a sucker for gift ideas that are lasting and make an impact in the lives of others. Today I read about a cool idea for Mother's Day that I thought was definately worth sharing!
(To read more about this idea, click any of the links or visit the Bottomly blog, the source of the following information!)
80% of the poor in sub saharan Africa are rural farmers, and 75% of their children go hungry.
The Grow Campaign will support local farmers in Kenya through their partner organization, Kickstart.
Kickstart has developed an enterprise that sells affordable irrigation pumps. These pumps greatly increase a farmers yield, which means food for their families and a surplus they sell to generate income (this can increase their income by 1000%).
To support these farmers, they found the perfect gift-
After you read it, you plant it, water it and it blooms in 3-4 weeks. Now you can "send flowers" for Mothers Day (May 8th), and help Kickstart support a farmer in Kenya!
